WELCOME!!
“The
curriculum is the major statement any institution makes
about itself, about what it can contribute to the
intellectual development of students, about what it
thinks is important in its teaching service to society.
(The Carnegie Foundation
for the Advancement of Teaching, 1979)
AB 1725, the community
college reform bill, assigned to faculty the “primary
responsibility for making recommendations in the areas of
curriculum and academic standards.” The Fullerton College
Curriculum Committee has been responsible for this function
since 1990. The Committee looks at all new and revised
courses and programs in order to ensure their quality and
effectiveness. We are currently streamlining
the process, through the use of CurricUnet, a curriculum
management system that should be active in Fall 2006.
This handbook is the product
of many people over many years, and much of the material
here comes from previous handbooks; the work that previous
faculty, management and classified staff have done is
invaluable. Hopefully, the handbook will act as an
accumulated body of institutional knowledge to help faculty
and staff understand and successfully complete the process.

Curriculum Committee Chair, 2007-2009
